This trip is an opportunity to discover an outstanding cultural identity, walking along the coastline where the surfers and fishermen share the ocean, then following the footsteps of the pilgrims coming from all over the world to start their journey in St Jean Pied de Port. The hikes have been carefully chosen so that you can experience all that the Basque Country has to offer.
Your guide, specialized in the Basque Country, will make sure that you discover this strong culture and the must-sees such as the listed villages and the magnificient Basque coastline on the Spanish side.
This tour also focuses on the regional products. You will finish your daily hikes with visits and tastings directly at the producers'. Irouléguy wines, sheep cheese, Espelette peppers, veal axoa... already hungry ??
Finally, the accomodation is a big asset for this trip: close by the listed village of Saint Jean Pied de Port, in a quality guesthouse run by a family whose sons are also guiding the hikes. Free access to the swimming pool, jacuzzi and outside areas that are perfect to relax after your hike, you will also enjoy a generous cuisine that puts regional products forward.

On Day 1 at 18:15 at your accomodation in Ascarat (64 – Pyrénées-Atlantiques) : Maison d’Hôtes Iputxainia
For people coming by train : meeting at 17:15 in front of Bayonne train station. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU CONTACT RESPYRENEES one week beforehand, texting: + 33 6 10 97 16 54, to book the shuttle between the train station and your accomodation.
Dispersion
On Day 7 around 9:30, after breakfast.
Transfer to Bayonne train station (arrival at 9:30 at the station) for people who came by train.

Nature of the terrain
Easy hikes, on good paths, the terrain is varied but often rocky.
Level 2
These trips are designed for people who are looking for active holidays. A reasonable level of physical condition is required. 4 to 5 hours of hike per day. Climbing pace* +300 m per hour.
*Be advised : these are average times that only take into account the effective walking time and do not include the stops during the hike.

At Maison Iputxainia, you will find a home away from home ! The whole family is at your service. Josiane, Jean-Michel, Jean and Mathieu are welcoming you, cooking you delicious food and taking you fishing or to the mountains !
